MAPS Family Picnic 2008

University of New England in Biddeford, Maine

We hope you’ll join us for a family outing in a beautiful Maine setting, with food, fun, and activities. This is a great opportunity for children and parents to connect with other adoptive families, visit with MAPS staff, see old friends, and make new ones.

Swimming in outdoor pool • Cookout lunch 11:00-1:00 (includes veggie burgers for vegetarians) • Fun activities for children and families

RAIN OR SHINE...the party will go on! So please remember to bring bathing suits, towels, and sunscreen (and folding chairs if you like.)

Directions
The University Campus of UNE is in Biddeford on the coast of Maine, 20 miles south of Portland and 90 miles north of Boston.

From the North and South

Take the Maine Turnpike (I-95) to Exit 32 (Biddeford). After the tollbooth, turn left at the traffic light intersection onto Route 111 (Alfred Street). Staying in the right lane to the intersection of Route 1, take a left onto Route 1 from the right-hand lane, and then an immediate right as Rt. 111 branches off to the right. Then continue to the next traffic light. Turn right onto Route 9/208 (Pool Street). Follow Route 9/208 approximately 4 miles to the University of New England sign on your left. Turn left at the sign to enter the campus. Look for signs to the “kiosk area.”

By Mail: You may register by mail until July 10 using our printable registration. Please do not send your RSVP by mail after this date. $15 per adult, $10 for children ages 3 -12; free for children under three. Send to MAPS, PO Box 772, Houlton ME 04730.

Online: You may register for the picnic here and pay online until July 11.

After July 11: Please call us at (207) 775-4101 to let us know how many adults and children are coming, and please bring a check ($15 per adult, $10 for children ages 3 -12; free for children under 3) to the picnic.)

We hope you’ll join us at the home of the Garrell family (Ronald, Kathy, Matthew and Rachel) for our annual MAPS Boston picnic. We thank the Garrells for their hospitality and look forward to seeing you at this get-together for our southern New England families. Directions via I-495/Bourne Bridge to the Mashpee Rotary and Great Neck Road South

I495 east towards Cape Cod.
I495 becomes Route 25E
Go over Bourne Bridge
At the Bourne Rotary take the 2nd exit onto Route 28 south towards Falmouth.
Continue through a large rotary, continuing on Route 28 South.
Continuiing on Route 28 South, 7 miles after the Bourne Bridge, take the exit for Route 151.
Right off the exit ramp to head east on Route 151.
Proceed 7 miles east to the Mashpee Rotary.
At the rotary take the second exit onto Great Neck Road South. Also see sign for New Seabury marking that rotary exit.

Directions from Route 3 South/Sagamore to Mashpee Rotary

Route 3 south to the Sagamore Bridge.
Over the bridge onto the mid Cape highway, Route 6 eastbound.
Exit 2, toward Mashpee/Route 130 Sandwich.
Take route 130 south towards Mashpee.
In about 7 miles at a traffic light, turn right to continue on 130 South. You are turning onto Great Neck Road North. See Dunkin Donuts on the left at the light, before you make the turn.
In about 2 miles is the Mashpee rotary. Take the third exit off the rotary onto Great Neck Road South. Also see the sign for New Seabury.

Remainder of Directions (From the Mashpee Rotary and Great Neck Road South)

In three miles see the entrance to New Seabury on the left.
Turn left into the entrance (Red Brook Road).
Immediately there is a fork.
Go left at the fork to continue on Wading Place Road.
In a half a mile after the fork, turn right onto Paddock Way.
Continue straight on Paddock Way, it turns into Paddock Circle.
At the end of Paddock Circle proceed into the one way counterclockwise dead end loop. Within this loop it is the last house on the right, #124, with mailbox marked Garrell.
