At A Glance

Parent Requirements: No more than 48 years between younger parent and child; some flexibility for older children. Single women accepted.

Children: Healthy infants and some toddlers; some special needs; Mestizo (mixed European/MayanIndian ancestry) and some Mayan Indian.

Waiting Time: Child referral is 0-2 months after dossier submission for boys and 1-5 months for girls (infants). In-country process takes approx. 6-11 months from child acceptance to travel. These estimates vary depending upon the orphanage/foster care program.

Travel: One or both parent(s) may travel; approximately 4-5 day trip.  Travel expenses $2,500 - $3,500. Escort option also available. Escort fee is $3,000.

In addition to Guatemala, during her years with MAPS she has worked with hundreds of families in our China program and facilitated adoptions from India and Bulgaria as well.
